Much of his art was derived from his own life experiences. In his paintings and
sculpture, Joe focused contemporary cowboys as well as historical Native American
themes. The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, he exhibited at
prestigious venue including the Wooloroc Museum, the Thomas Gilcrease Museum,
the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Charles M. Russell
Museum, the Heard, and the Institute of Texas Cultures. In 1995, the Arizona Historic
League honored him as one of Arizona’s History Makers. A book on the life and work
of Joe Beeler was published in December of 2003.in December of 2003.
